Intermission Stereo Intermission Stereo was the audio wing of the Intermission Artist Society's interdisciplinary collective. Khan Lee, Marianne Bos, Brady Marks, and Steve Calvert played improvised electroacoustic noisic most thursday evenings at IMHQ from 2001-2005, recording each improvisational jam digitally. With periodic drop-in sessions from Derek Brunen, Peter Schuyff, Michelle Irving, Michael Red, Ursula Andrade, Rod Navarre, Matt O'Donnell, Angelo Moroni, Shane Baron, Igor Santizo, Mikela Jay, Tanya Pea, Shayne Ehman, Steve Balough and others, quite a collection of files accumulated. Calvair luxuriated over the pile, clipping standout selections, isolating coherent grooves, searching for those magical passages of crystalline novelty rising in the chaotic synchromesh of a noisic jam, assembling these exerpts into loose annual audio collections of sixty or eighty minutes. Intermission also played live around town now and again. Overflow appeared in a limited edition printing distributed to the local art community. High Commission played on constant rotation at the gallery of the Canadian Consulate in London UK from Sept 2004 to Jan 2005 as part of the BARK design exhibition, Red & White. Tracks from Taste Plus appeared in the soundtracks of documentary films the Corporation and Scared Sacred, with thanks to the sound design elan of Velcrow Ripper.
