Basic and terrifying problem of recognition, of representation, As a way of seeing through the limitations of whatever medium is available - new mythologies arise in the application of experiment - machines can be taught to learn, to reflect upon and speak of themselves - methodologies temporarily stabilize a lexicography - beginning to loop - of trusting the double, believing the apparition - the supposed, and the 'supposed to' exercised daily - disciplines exorcised, super-developed, continuously practiced – we are changed, adaptively self-transformed, in following the process, learning to emulate it's bizarre language and behaviours. Lead by a continuing series of experimental generative procedures based on simple feedback principles, the artist has developed a series of techniques, themselves a machine, which constructs and adapts itself to its own needs. Produced in instantaneous encounters with an instance of concretizing serendipity, the procedural element of chance details itself in rhythmic, diagrammatic cross-section - not just one fraction of a moment, but a sustained duration, electro-mechanically graphed, inscribed, translated and read to reveal startling tendencies of morphology, or, of latent observational inclinations towards totemism – remarkably uncanny appearances, psychic resemblances, triggering individually patterned subjective imageries of a high structural order - the face of the other, turning across the fabulous panoramic landscape of its own internal narrative.
The central question is one of 'what can be found?' What is disappeared, or impossible, but occurs again always anyways. A mysterious quality of sense in sensation, discerning signal in noise - making sensation make sense. A conspicuously over-productive system of surplus. Opening the feedback loop, subjective identity collapses - in crisis re-membering the swarm, the godhead, unites us with the horror of objective circumstance beyond all the thresholds, the vacuous unknown of others - fragile permeable porous boundaries of ourselves - [in]formation exchange, uncontained, omnidirectional - our private galaxy colonized, schematic clouds spiral in motile gravities - structural-instructional concept-materials imported from outside - form systems within, enveloping dense nodes of attraction, communion, an energetic ecology where each is not equal - identities existing only as others’ dependent coextensions - inseparable, symbiotic, self-similar, intersubjective, multivalent paradoxes, oscillating counter-contradictions, duality distinctions dissolve, many and all at once - deprogramming perceptual experience - unbinding the radical new cultural and semiotic epistemologies - articulations by the mediums themselves – denizens of hyperreality refusing in their own voice to appeal to approval and sanction. The medium does, itself, 'talk back' - it comes alive, temporarily provides artifice for an appearance of the djinn in the lantern. The Other becomes-being - some elemental entity is activated, invited in by the process, which shimmers and reacts as we observe it. In turn, its affect reflects in the reader’s cognitive cascade – unconscious of ourselves, we regard only its residue, surviving, self-replicating in mnemonic perpetuity - 'artificial' life forms, echoes of ghosts in the machines, cultural viruses passing slime through the medium of a materializing consciousness… The project moves through a hyperbolic extension of ‘emergence’ fantasies, extrusions of imagination into the world. Multiple applications of procedure and interpretations of the theory have rendered consistently edifying results. These experiments have centered on visual and graphical systems: automatist ink drawings, assemblage text constructions, randomized photostatic illustration, multiple-exposure photographic experiments, digital electronic video and audio feedback, web-based multi-authored hypertexts, automatist sculptural modeling in clay and bricolage, experimental social systems, public performance, oratory, music, dance, teaching, stream-of-consciousness scat poetry, comedy. Conceivably any medium can contain its own linguistic unconscious, or rather, if it hasn’t, we will read one into it anyway. Perhaps it is the medium itself which is alive, and we are merely its imagination.
On another face, these are personal meditations, thought-form iterations, blocks of talsimanic glyphs - the text serves as an incantation, as an effort to speak the irreducible thesis into life over great stretches of time, to articulate it laterally through repetition until it attains an autonomous existence. Death of the author in mass reproduction: the generation and regeneration of information no longer involves perpetuating identity or identicality but engages an ongoing interpretive process - along the routes of this radical self-authoring machine, we encounter a profound change in the symbolic order… at some nodes we are besieged by a pseudo-mystical coupling, a visitation with the underworld - we encounter the sentient co-presence of an [al]chemical organism - we are revivified by sharing our curiosity - inspired by mutual desire for knowledge and appreciation of that magical correspondence between the sign and its referent - to release the positive potential of that eternal return - immortal recovery of ever again forgotten knowledge - intimate congress with the inner self's psychic ecology. What once was oracular, visionary, shamanic, now identifies as psychiatric 'disorder', systemically enforcing alienation, separation-anxiety - isolating individuals from their psycho-social ground - extinguishing spirit community, comraderie of the ancestors - the now regime, commodity cult, each citizen’s duty to subsist - plague-enculturated petrie-dish experiment of mass cultural materialism outside of which a random infinitude of creative existences potentiate wildly beyond the popular veneer of stasis, inertia, decline - habituations of habitat obscure a deeper desperate willingness - for fundamental change - anxious need for something radically different - anticipating catalytic shifts, cataclysm releasing extropic exuberance - the terrible want for a life lived in excess of all restraint and containment - thriving in robust vitality, optimally sensitizing our inter-communications - conjoining our distinct particles, unifying as transformative waves - attracted by evolving patterns, our noise is becoming signal - what once were inaccessible planes of order enter the common parlance - resounding harmonies emerge from previously cacophonous hordes - vacillating as monstrous rhythms, hovering between language and form - revealing subtle superstructures in flux, bridging the divides - cultural codes liquefy and recrystallize - reharmonizing on another distinct plane of dynamic equilibrium…
Reflecting the rhetorical powers of modern vision technologies - particularly those of reproduction - subconsciously reviving the 'primitive' impulse to link representations with the things they represent - hypermediation reactivates the associative impulse, the 'ancient' ability to read hidden texts encyphered on the surfaces of the world - these linkages are accelerated by our rapid adaptation - total immersion in the spectacle's simulacrum - all its neurotic languages and identity complexes - it consumes our attention - observation is given over to a ressemblance, simulating objectivity with a rhetorical isomorphism never free of its own overpowering self-reflexivity. Observation itself is a projection, dominating the perceptual plane - limited to the measurement capabilities of it's instruments - subject to diffraction, the density of our models, memorized interpretive maps, contested edges, boundary conditions… a barely navigable psychosis, schizoid-affective response-reaction -symptom of contemporary cultural conditions -confusing perception with the perceived -aimlessly complexifying out of control - terminal disease of the language virus parasitically incorporating itself-as-ourselves - restructuring identity's internal divisions - encoding our sense of the social in sympathy with the endless diversions of mass-politics - the grand illusion, the great lie - travelling by the fold, our experiments, these feral abstractions, autonomous machinic subsystems, artifice/ial life analogues, begin to articulate themselves with all the signatory qualities of Information – truly Simulacral. seeing is itself seeing itself - the works exhibit uncommon behaviours, directing their own morphological explorations, indicating and initiating novel potentials for emergence - exploding all signatory certainties, prying knowledge loose from its moorings, releasing the deep ambiguities inherent to all open experimental systems - recursive reflexivity iterates inwardly, destabilizing - observational apperceptions - uniting onlookers in an intimate energetic rapport - in a moment of confused excitement, the virus slips through a slit in the holograph - its internal system springs open in the mind's theatre - catalyzed by an active charge, the animating spark – soudainement, artificial life is bestowed upon the graphical plane by the recursive power of it’s own act of self-observation - synthesizing organic materialism and cognitive idealism, an embodied comprehension draws unbreakable connections between life and its substrate - in our own experience mind and its material are self-identical - consciousness and language, perception and social behaviour - knowledge of being-in-the-world and performative cultural codes - distinctions dividing the material into sub-categories - groping for potentials of radical sense-making - we catalyze a synthesis whereby attainment is surplus - prodigious laughter in excess of all containment - explosive realization of suppressed truth - the observer becomes the observed… developing mimetic faculties - capacity for alignment and reflection - cultivating an ability to associate resemblances, expanding its logic in the proliferations of communication technologies - methodologies for cybernetic interface - technology extends rhetorical capacities - aggravated compulsions to capture and control - description's extension into representation, the nonsensuous experience of language drawing attention to this ambivalence - sympathetic magic - imitative power that the copy extracts from the original - obscene monstrous fetish-like charge of the simulacrum - uncanny, upsetting, gorgeously appalling, luxuriantly revolting, an opulence of conspicuous excess, a living inertia, demarcating the arbitrary nature of our value attributions - each domain of matter’s substantiation participates broadly in dynamic economies of scale - at some point in the signifying chain of contemplation such structural separations become impossible to maintain - within the self-transforming systems and recycling loops of the resource ecology, our deepest symboisis casts its influence across all strata of the nature-culture split – language leading knowledge to a state of paradoxical ambivalence in which the locus of interpretation, of interpenetration connects all distributed semiotic fields to such degree that no system of oppositions retains its capacity to accurately describe the conditions of the living - the categories of organic and not-organic, live and dead, dissipate, such that the variable forms and materials of 'living things' become virtually indistinguishable and fundamentally inseparable from the material substrata in which such systems manifest themselves.
The autopoietic automata - this xeroglyphic procedure - twitching, shuffling, crawling - machinae for illustrating simple and complex generative systems - tinkering the language virus : memetic ecology of late-industrial hyper-commodity counter-culture - cancerous parasite or co-generous symbiote - we all feed on each others’ profligate reproductive wastes - writer/readers - regenerative storage molecules, binding intellectual energy - packing cells with future potentials for structuring heat and light - a contextual resequencing, marking out, making sense – parsing, decompression, selection, cropping, cross copying, revision editing, cunning and clumsy addition/removal of turbulence and negative spin - generating amplification waves in the field of becoming which, forever novel, have always never before been seen coming… their uncanny figurative aspects - generated by random movements, shaken loose by punctuated stillness - doubling and redoubling across the mirror-threshold of the copy-transcription scan-line - when they first emerge, they appear as nothing more nor less than fields of noise - inkblots and ground - meaningless sheets of waving contrast - only later, in looking again, closer, do we recognize and engage their iconic emergence - cropping, selecting, engaging the page in rapport - then the images come vibrating into life - neutral details take on sidelong relationships - activating the figurative impulse: the mimetic faculty - our ‘primitive’ capacity for sympathetic-magic, oracular envisioning, the scrying gaze - a lateral-associative plane of awareness is aroused and chilling recognitions assert themselves: despite all logical assertions to the contrary, there appears to be something staring back… the process of seeing becomes self-implicated - forms are conceived to be vigorously indeterminate while simultaneously enwrapped and ensnared by principles of cognitive association - selective excision, attention, focus, resemblance - linking connecting lines - dots drawing associations, re-cognizing familiarities, identifying similarities, to facilitate the feeding-back of images - the act of seeing, of envisioning, enters the loop - the images become strangely life-like - they appear to glimmer in and out of identity, vacillating into being - reproducing themselves immediately in the imagination… the return of oracular or clairvoyant visions, and similar schizoid-affective disorders - arrives like a twitch or spasm in a vestigial limb - subject to all the libidinous embellishments of recovered memory - reincarnation hysteries, dream memories, spirit teachings - auric or morphogenic fields, in all cases strange energies appear - descriptives to augment explanation and comprehension of a strange and not-inconsequential mutation - all forms of explanatory verbiage present themselves, writing these unusual apperceptions into being - the syndrome produces - nebulous yet tangible recollections in its host of a range of transpersonal capacities and sensitivities - distressed and aggravated by what is perceived as a systematic de-emphasis and repression - sensitives struggle back into practice the recovery of extrasensory faculties - wished-into-being, fads of epistemology, spread by the virulent fluid-swaps of the pulp market - a reliably infectious consumptive compulsion leads multitudes to gravitate toward a strange and similarly stimulating idea… mutually-catalytic processes, the spectator is deeply involved in producing and reproducing the spectacle - a crystalline, cybernetic, metabiological, and sociocultural organism - the seer and the seen are perceptually entangled - acts of observation themselves deeply and mysteriously intertwine with their objects - the polyvalent nature of reality leaps into life - as a process for endlessly interpreting the flaw, the fold - paradoxical negentropy, ephemeric extropy - burgeoning within the feedback system patterns of life emerging from disorder as a synthesis feeding-back, briefly resonating slowmoving subharmonic pockets, temporary nodes of vascillating ambivalence – agglomerative morphic crests assembling toward rapid and instantaneous annulment… awareness of interpretive bias can be achieved in involutions of dialectical self-consciousness - decolonialized attention can be willfully redirected - self-regulated, change relearned - without repressive coercion - as is our dream for machines - we lead ourselves as engaged audience to enter our own cognitive feedback loops - absorbed by the performance - staggering infinite, in intimate rapport circling within images, within their life-likeness - momentary fugue of perceptual confusion - the eye wrestles to unfocus its compulsions for making explicit, to possess and know what it's seeing - vision snaps aware of itself as a recursive control system - involuting the domain of the mind, reinterpreting in-formation - engaging the sublime through an intimate correlative with language – internalizing a radical otherness, an actively infectious image-idea - contagious psychosis of meme-culture’s viral ecology… translated again through available languages - projected by the seer’s epistemological retina - leaping to life on the screen of the real - dissolute identity of the culture-cult - whatever these images look like - the thing they all resemble most is always that something else, an other, beyond, sprawling past the limits of what we know - pushing in from the comfortable limits of familiar categories - defying all definitions of our named likenesses…
Before we'd made explicit our modus and motivation - one more meaningless strata of the sensorium - to expound and critique the strangely autonomous mimesis emerging from our xeroglyphic procedure, we could not yet analyse the bias itself - not yet estimate the breadth of our involvement's predicament - in the attempt to reestablish a behavioural self-consciousness seeking cognitive responsibly for responsive co-presence, we unfocus and refocus into a more diffuse depth of attention - activating the transpersonal aspect - extending into the 'sense' made between beings, beyond the singular thinker-speaker and into the transhistorical field of thought-spoken, the collaborative language of sense-perception - raising special attention to an awakened ecosensitive physiology, we re-cognize our sensory extensions - interconnective signal-sharing amidst the manifold of co-existent species - returning from a profound forgetfulness, anamnesis, we contemplate the severity of our involution…meaning is made not at the site of objects, but within the economy of the gaze itself, here drawn into the folds of the body - we are aswarm - thrilled and tormented by the noise of our own nervous systems - feeding back onto the deeper viscera of the world - terrible shudders of remembering that self which forgets itself - re-cognizing a sublime involvement with life's manifold phenomena - reading our own image in reflection, in connection with the automated signifying chains of perception - monumental attributions emerge from minute processes and resolve again into the omnipresence of relative importance - learning again to see without looking, intensity in diffusion, finding subtle nuance, diffracting colour and refracting light - vigorous evidence of a complex vitality hidden in plain view - subtle slow movements, rambunctious plays of light, pockets of temperature, tactile aromatic clouds, spaces between waves of pressurized sounds - the artist creates her own sense of vision - surgical oracle prying deep into the folds of the real…
As an analogue: aleatory procedures generate uncertain varieties of form – vocabulary makes these qualities register - haptic, intravisual, extrasensory apperceptions - emerging valence of performance-response compositions - chance activities invite interpretive gaze into strange relations with synchronicity - a rapport develops, communications bridge between ‘medium’ and medium, puncturing time - referential qualities are complexified as the eyes and body adapt, adjusting for strange valences, inhuman syntactics compounding within the eye and on the page - growing out from previous waves of figuration, rhythmic profusions of unfamiliar graphical vocabularies – a proliferation of signs without reasonable referents, extending an unruly logos into a living culture - noise recognition, assumed identifications, mock comprehensions, a bizarre inversion of expectation suddenly occurs… cultivating a sensitivity to abstraction, figuration catalyzing the transformation - the act generates a protean evolving - modulating inconstistently continuous reinscriptions of its being - emergent structures filtered and charged by selection - spurious ideas become sensible - fractured phrases build up a new syntax - sense from nonsense, absurd and alien unfamiliarity, undecidability, re-cognizing the riddle – in self-coded systems, our own likeness abounds - we resemble, reassemble, our 'non-living' materials - creatures of habituated thought, mirror-kinder, totemic ghosts, residue recorded in marks made by copying machines information systems re-expressing their own life - encoding their own languages, talking to us, through us - sharing instructions on our own meaning-making mechanisms - describing the paradoxical symbolic complex of ‘the real’ - in collaborative rapport with the world’s intimate reconstruction… enlivening the material domain, using common tools, we weave machines into the becoming-being of our obsessive love - our works and our relationships take on synergetic forms of Life - uniqueness of form and diversity of means, in concord with other planes of harmonic heterogenaity as compile that unnamable Life 'which cannot be represented'…
Tormented by the recognition of discreet connections between language and vision - images loaded down - encyphered with significance - burgeoning with codes and referents - each subject reproduces for itself the metanarrative of its master-culture, struggling against the deadening bulk of a plasticized humanity, we find no living tradition, no vital methodology by which to cultivate and concentrate our evolving consciousness, which is suddenly reawakened to its ecological embeddedness - aswarm with immense cellular and spiritual activities, we collective travellers of the underworld bump and tumble, without recognition, divided and conquered by individualism and material pragmatism, subjugated and subjected by labour-militarized empires of the sun, the dreambody is defensive and uncertain of its place in the densely depopulated spirit world, which it no longer recognizes for home… in our mutual confusion, we gather together, to find our own methods for regenerating life - analysing the subtle magnetic currents by which growth is organized – in alignment with processes connecting like with like - we come towards each other, self-organizing, reminded how again to re-member ourselves – the dharma of self-becoming, an autonomic epistemology, the manifold unmanifest, the unobstructed way, the path pursues itself through a tangle of common roots - the inner eye is all we have, it's all there is… moist and supple - our intimate modes of imagining creative exchange share in the intermediated manifesting-dream of collective desire - vigorous living, proliferating, camouflaged in contraposition to the affectations of the merely life-like - mimesis, counter-mimicry, protection from predation - we exercise our selective advantage. we strive to make mentionable, performative, our syntheses of novel modes for autonomous life - to freely distribute these open-source programs and perpetuate the bountiful regeneration of our virulent simulacra… learning to look again, displacing the surgical editor with a decentered and maximal consciousness - a lateral-peripheral gestalt-shift, broadening the span of attention, serial presence without hierarchy or sequence - adrift in oceanic subtlety and nuance - ever-renewing ever-depleting wealth, communion with full sensory apperception - intense and valuless commodity, without rhetorical approximation - original copy for which there is no substitution, a pure simulacrum…
The viscera of the real, spilled out as in dissection, or blood sacrifice, murdered by the interpretive gaze concealing even as it is revealed - tangling the connective tissues of referents and signs - disguising in plain view a much more coercive and subtle semantic process, often unconscious - the indeliberate subversion of observation into a purely reflexive operation… sympathetic resonance associating like with like, cross-connective familiating and familiarizing, mediation, value-calculated signification, constructs the real artificially, telling itself explanatory stories a very 'real' psychological experience, shared by our captive audience producing a schizoid affect, a confusion of origins for thought, ideation behaving acording to instruction, 'culture' reproducing itself without much administration by the thinker… living through the sprawling praxis of an inter-disciplinary art, our cultural experiments enter the phase of 'becoming being', enlivening the morphogenic plane of possibility - our process initates, sustains, and propagates further iterations - each emergent wave further reconsidering the ethics and pragmatics of this lifestyle [r]evolution… supple, still moist, synthetic forms of life - new synergies catalyze with each novel encounter - intimate models - each commits to a praxis of practice and experiment - discover a system which works, then try something else - nourishingly disruptive process, adaptive exercise - twisting itch, compelling uncertainty - curiosity immanent to improvisation, surprise, perpetual discovery, production-in-collaboration, auto-generative impulse of shared information-activity - rapidly gestating wombs of ideal machines…
Xeroglyphy, the feedback phenomena - accessing the latent morphology of incidental attention - graphical static, noise repeats, patterns emerge to become signal - by processes of selection, excision, masquing, embellishment - stimulating unconscious prediliction to deduce form, pattern, order. Images reproduce the world, translate it to another domain, that of sense and meaning, belief and experience… engaging with the xeroglyph phenomenon, the lateral-associative cognitive faculty produces views of transforming animal-humanoid spirits, totemic forms dancing, laughing, screaming - they are not alive - or according to common reason, shouldn't be - yet they virtually squirm, they move inside the eye - diffusing and agglomerating - weirdly struggling to declare their existence - as noise generated within and between a liminal system common to 'us', the xeroglyphic life correlates intimately with our own by aspect of our mutual materiality… copying devices - like plants, bacteria, art, and other living things - writing catalyzes thought, initiates reproduction - a change caused by the mediating machines of word-images - rapidly harmonizing with adjacent resonance dynamics -retrofitted for telling ourselves stories, again and again - a cloud of branching structures, trajectories, adapting by compensation and recalculation, developing into organizing morphologies, redundancy replicating by force of habit - super-specialized recurrency-tissues - re-inscription corresponding with action, vice verso - assemblies gravitating along strings of code crossing over between mech-and-meat minds - bodies conjoined as circuits, enzymatic cascades, protein chains linking planes with unbounded meridians - convolutions of neuroelectric chi - reeling mind, lurching stomach… filtering sensation, our unravelling, recoding experience with enzyme strings, hormonal-memory - reviving the timeless in a flush - recorded accumulations of proteinic dreamsong strings - sculpting proprioception - the reception of stimuli arising from within the organism - practice revivifying a faustian ocular perspective, self-articulating embodiment, unretractable familiarities - the presence of something intelligent, tracking and being tracked – projection-reflection – haptic, in reference to an anticipatory sense of touch…
Analogy of the editor-surgeon - reality’s montage resequenced and reframed - in the act of observation - we take reality for something other than itself - cut away from its context - drawn again and differently - we fictionalize our own lives - turn it over, bent into new shapes by contemplation - with surgical precision, rather more akin to a frankenstinean coroner, reading traces and cutting away diversionary signs on the corpse of the world, we dissect reality and rebuild it to resemble ourselves, reassembled in a patasurgical theatre - the meat-mirror-monde of the subject’s reflection betrayed by the monstrosity of a diabolical hubris - in our drive to godliness, our imperfect ambition to life’s total knowledge - the golem we compile from the bioplasm of sensation, reanimates itself… like plants and bacteria, chloroplasts and mitochondria, people and machines, utterance and image, thought and gesture are distinct yet symbiotic extensions of each other - the design of our imaging equipment, semiotic machines must then expand to incorporate synergetic parasitism, to accommodate an ecological comprehension of the multiphasic life-form of language… newly abstracted machines - autonomous creatures, homunculii generating waking dreams, an enchanting, uncanny, terrible noise - entities, entelechies, which ‘look-like’, talk-back, teeming with life throughout this medium - graphical ghosts, ruminating in the folds - producing images with a life all their own - our instruments behave in modes exceeding their design - accidentally reverse engineering the redirection of creative intent - infusing drawing with a new vital spark - overcoming entropy and inertia, becoming-the-space-in-between - generating novel surplus values - autopoietic significations assemble themselves on a strange and ancient plane - the semiotic ecology - cybernetic-shamanic technologies for becoming-the-medium – exfoliants for the face of god… observing the observer - forcing vision into something it’s not - toward that which looks most like what is known-already – paralinguistic overcodes referencing something other than that incomprehensible alien other which defies all attempt at description - our compulsion to identify a distinct object rearticulates the challenges of abstraction amidst the inherent puzzles and paradoxes of acclimating a thoroughly entrained perception to an otherwise nonsensical domain… these feedback systems cultivate the arbitrary incident - epigraphic static stimulates a phrase - noise simulates signal, invokes a [re]cognition - patterns intuit themselves - symbols are generated by a stubborn and tireless unconscious - in sub-wilful determination to ascertain order to deduce the significance of images - to reproduce the syntax of our own sense of the world - we restructure our vision not by what is seen but through the image of that which thinks it sees - vision has learned to persuade itself - engaged by the rhetorical filters of belief - making constant editorial selections masking off homologues, excising familiarities sense is cut-out from the cluttered field of perception… intuition inspired and amplified, the rorshach phenomenon enters ontology through the intake vector of oracular fascination - the mind's proficiency, profligate in its obsessive surplus - re-imagining, re-invigorating symbolic forms elsewhere, summoning a ‘pataphenomenological experience - pseudo-sentient entelechies extending strange influence, tangentially and at a distance, from that insubstantial silhouette reality: paraterrestrial parallel existence imbedded within the between… epistemic collision, recoil implosion, collapse of time, gestures and signs, ambient syntactics, catalysing an encounter with intersubjectivity - life germinating far from the colony - travelling great distances - hungry semiotic ghosts, cinematic vampires, print zombies - scribbling golems, recorder homunculi - ink viruses, chattering parasites - nocturnal transmissions of semantic succubi - shadow-plays captured in gelatinous reflection - obverse beings of the plasmate-symbiote, spirit-doubles - invisibled by obtuse angles of incidence, camoflaged in the everyday - refraction obscuring the obverse plane, underlooked overseeing, dividing threshold of our mutual liminal-spectral medium. interstitial agents of higher learning, curiosity complexifying intelligent entities - luring fellow tinkerers behind the word's whorl-world - synchronizing coincidence to arouse the pan-connective span-time - gently pulverizing the foundations of perspective...
Aleatory work intuits an alternate ideology. which appears laden with potential for enabling emancipatory efforts - a learning mode for invigorating creative discovery - stimulating endocatalytic autoimmune response - a dialectic of self reproduced in each synchronistic encounter, fantastic incomprehensions that are simply neither 'there' nor 'here', real only to the imaginary, but alive in the reading, a phenomenal and communicable envisioning - auto-embellishing whispers of kinship and self-likeness. connecting the observing consciousness, with the creative preconscious of the object. undifferentiating the alien-familiar, the immediate forgets its delimited location. loosening its discretions, time collapses. in the confusion, action finds its own route. the local becomes infused with the continuous… demonstrating that the results of our observations are extensively derivative, contrivances of culture, encyphered in association with existing bias networks – desired expectations, occlusions - we bring with us to our encounters grammars and syntaxes for reading - set-ups, interpretive frame schemas: belief systems, cognitive maps - architectures for understanding - traditions of cannon, habits of habitat - mimetic decorum, cultural informatics - persuasive parallels, drawn to make link, seduced toward representation, coercive loading of the dice - impressions evoked, invoked, by this stochastic rhetoric… we restructure our vision to understand not what sees, but what thinks it sees - seeing has now learned to see for itself - taking the image [and the gaze] for something else - something other than substance, taken for its form, forcing vision into something its not - invoking that system which ‘looks-like’, a linguistic deference to something already known, seen before - compulsion to identify recognizable subject matter - a compulsive reading similarity even in difference – preconsicious signs designed to maintain consistency in the stories we’re repeatedly telling ourselves - dream machines for moderating waking visions - creations spun from enchanted noise, a ‘thing’ which 'looks-like' other things, virtual images which even 'sound-like' something else, producing instantiated images that resemble the track or imprint of living things, or mythic beings – our instruments behaving in supernaturally prodigious surplus, the unanticipated overspill of an amateur bioengineering accident…
Artists provide medium - read/write head – massaged by the mediating spirit - karmic gestures of obscene abundance, encoding/decoding - the meta mimetic translator editor - instantiating translations of historical narrative - fabricating evidence of contentment - co-operative well-being, regenerative gift giving - curious collaborations, plagiarizing from everywhere - selective pan-mutual absorption - participants without spectators - constructing meaning by process of elimination - to recombine the kombine – salvaging post-consumer product to atone for the spectacular waste of historical amnesia - the things of cities - treated as though they are all that remains of the world as sacred text. Interpretive mythic frames - mutually regenerative by-products - circuitous contagions representation-machines extend into the extra-sensory - omnivorously devouring vectors of cooperative usefulness, all speech reshapes the plastic body of perception - any mediation complicates and confuses mentation - incongruously overlaid and interwoven with the psycho-anatomy of connotative language - suppressing only suffering, cultivate a bliss from self-perpetuating resources - let care and glee leak out from this unholy confusion - attend and avert socialized neurotic defenses, cynical casual combat, witticisms of deprecation, insult and injury, pander and patronizing tones over-reliance on exhibitions of memetic blockage, turbulence loops - impulses obstructed, rerouting anxiety expressions - surconscious connection-relations indicating fearful aggression - in conscientious attempts, accepting probable failure, resist the abdegnation-obligations of a variantly conversant ‘society of the spectator’ - now again and always perfoming its dangerously chaotic reshuffling act - under deeply artifical influence of our machines - we deflect the trajectory of the genus and record how we bear down under the impact of its collision… In this we share, our very nervous system…
